This paper deals with the thought of one of the most influential economists of the 20th century, Chicago University professor Milton Friedman. Along with the most important biographical information about the man who managed to change the way economic theory worked until then, his teaching is also given, and the theories he constructed are explained through the prism of his writings, but also through the prism of criticism that did not spare him. Also, a brief overview of the liberal philosophy of economics is given. What is specific about Friedman is that, like few scientists in the social field of work, he got the opportunity to test his theories practically, on a radius of action that included entire countries. The paper shows how that experimentation went.
